Headspace & SPBA Team Up

Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA) is pleased to be working in partnership with headspace Rosebud.

headspace Rosebud is a voluntary, free and confidential health service for young people aged 12 – 25 on the southern Mornington Peninsula area. headspace Rosebud is an inclusive service and a safe space for all young people.

Having recently united as a club, we saw a number of players across the Association take part in Basketball Victoria’s Mental Health Round to raise awareness of promoting mental health recognition in the community. This saw all of our Big V teams take the court with orange socks along with a large number of VJBL players.

On the recent partnership, SPBA General Manager, Ben White commented "While still experiencing the effects of the global pandemic, support and awareness for mental health could not be more important. Taking advantage of the links between physical activity and an individual's health, alongside increasing awareness of services such as headspace Rosebud is a critical part of SPBA's vision. Everyone would go see a health professional for help if they have a sport injury. Nothing should change when it comes to mental health, dealing with drugs and alcohol or struggling with work, school or study."

The partnership between the two organisation is a critical link at the best of times, but even more important with the recent challenges which have been faced by many people in the community.

headspace Rosebud's Community Engagement and Youth Participation Officer, Bethany Knight said "headspace Rosebud is a health and wellbeing service for young people aged 12 – 25, as well as their families and friends. We encourage members of the Southern Peninsula Basketball Association to use our services, both in person and online, to help support you and the young people in your life, during this tough time."
